I came to WDFN after serving
as the sports producer for WDIV-TV, the NBC affiliate in
Detroit. I was a frequent on-air contributor to the Sunday sports
show, Sports Final Edition, and worked at WDIV from 1986-1994. I
began my foray into radio as the co-host of the Sunday Sports
Albom from 1988-1994 on WLLZ and WJR.
Before
arriving in Detroit in 1986, I was a producer for WRC-TV in
Washington D.C. from 1980-1985 and co-produced the popular syndicated
television show, The George Michael Sports Machine. I was
also responsible for the Nightly News sports feed that was sent to
every NBC television station by the network.
As you may
know from listening to my show, I'm a 1980 graduate of
American University and grew up in suburban Philadelphia. I'm
passionate about sports, Bruce Springsteen, and mostly my family
which consists of my wife Cyndi and twin girls Jessica and
Marissa.
The Stones reside in West Bloomfield, Michigan with their dogs Rocky and Jersey.
WOJO'S BIOBob
"Wojo" Wojnowski has lived in the Detroit area, writing or talking or
breathing about sports, almost his entire life. A 1983 University of
Michigan graduate, he has written for the Detroit News since 1989, and
been a columnist since 1992. He has covered everything from the
Olympics to the Super Bowl to the Red Wings' and Pistons' championships
to all of the Lions' post-season successes. (OK, it was just one
playoff game, but what a game!).
Wojo joined WDFN at its birth
in 1994 and became a full-time afternoon co-host with Stoney in 1995.
Among Wojo's on-air staples: Astounding predictions as alter-ego
Wojodamus and occasional fits of loud chewing. He juggles the two
high-profile jobs while still finding time to do regular TV appearances
on Fox 2 in Detroit. He lives in Farmington Hills with a big-screen TV
and a leather recliner that's the envy of the neighborhood.
